What's in it, and what isn't
Four ingredients. Here they are.
| Myo-inositol | 1,000mg per 2 capsules |
| D-chiro-inositol | 25mg · Caronositol®, derived from carob |
| Hypromellose | The capsule. Plant cellulose. |
| Microcrystalline cellulose | What holds the powder together. Plant. |
That's the complete list. Nothing else is in the bottle.
No gelatin
Most capsules are gelatin, and most gelatin is bovine or porcine. Ours isn't. It's hypromellose, which is made from plant cellulose.
This matters to more people than the industry acts like it does. If you're Muslim, Jewish, vegetarian, vegan, or you've just read the back of enough bottles to be suspicious, the capsule is usually where the animal product hides, and almost nobody puts it on the front.
So: no gelatin. No animal-derived ingredients anywhere in this product.
Where the D-chiro-inositol comes from
Ours is Caronositol®, derived from carob, the pod from the carob tree. It's a branded, identified ingredient, which means we can tell you its source. Most brands list "D-chiro-inositol" and leave it there.
On halal
The capsule is plant-based hypromellose, not gelatin, and there are no animal-derived ingredients in this product.
Our manufacturer, Vox Nutrition, holds a halal product certificate from Islamic Services of America (ISA) that lists this product. Sakina is not itself certified, and our bottle does not carry the ISA mark yet. We'll update this page if that changes.
On the 40:1 ratio
Myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol occur in your body at roughly forty to one, and 40:1 is the ratio most brands use now. We're not claiming it as our idea. We're just telling you we didn't cut that corner.
